I am a first time online shopper, how can I purchase online with confidence?

Everyone who has paid for any product or service online felt uncomfortable the first time they did it. All your friends and media telling you that the internet is not very safe makes this decision even harder. Buying online requires some advice and basic knowledge in order to do it safely. If you follow the safety tips below you will be soon a frequent and confident online shopper:

- Make sure that the site you are visiting is trusted (referrals from friends or google the site for opinions in forums, fraudulent business and websites are always in the forums due to their bad reputation)

- When directed to the payment page, make sure that the URL (web address on the top of your browser) indicates a secured site. You will notice that the address changes from http:// to https:// where the s stands for the Security Socket Layer, a little code that encrypts the information sent from your computer to the site avoiding anyone having access to your credit card in the process.

- In most cases you will be prompted to pay with paypal. This service is widely recognized and used all around the world and is very safe. Sayak website makes use of a shopping cart from Paypal therefore every time you add a new item to your bag (or proceed to the payment page) you will see a new window with the details of the products added. You will also notice that the address of this new window is from paypal. Note that the address of this new window must start something like this: https:www.paypal.com/.......

- The advantage of using paypal is that the payment process (when you enter your credit cards details) happens entirely within the paypal servers which are highly secured and encrypted. This gives you a piece of mind that your details are not stored at the merchant's website database.

- If you still don't feel confident enough, you can also purchase pre paid credit cards (with limited credit) at your nearest post office. This way you know what you are spending because you establish the limit of the credit card.

If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to call me or ask someone you know that has some knowledge on online shopping.
